Our Mission

The goal of Partners for Pets is to eliminate euthanasia of healthy, adoptable pets; promote sterilization (spay/neuter); work collaboratively with local shelters in a foster/adoption program; and educate the community about the importance of sterilization, permanent identification, and making a lifetime commitment.

Our Story

In 1996 the organization started as nothing more than a few people’s passion for helping animals. 29 years and 1000s of cat later, Partners for Pets is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to saving the lives of homeless cats in Spokane County.

We believe in making a lifetime commitment, not only by trying to find our rescues forever homes, but also by taking our rescues back (even years later) if for any reason that adopted home does not work out.

Partners for Pets is a 100% volunteer-run organization. We quite literally couldn’t do what we do without the dozens of people who pour their time, talent, and hearts into Partners for Pets’ mission. We have zero paid staff, so every aspect of our organization is taken care of by a dedicated volunteer. Our volunteers do everything from fostering cats, scooping boxes, providing adoption counseling to visitors, to the more administrative tasks like entering data into our databases or posting photos of the cats on Facebook. If you can donate a couple of hours a week, you can change the lives of cats and kittens in our community.
